Our caring and beautiful facilities are the back drop
for the latest techniques in the art of equine breeding
for you and your mares. Jonathan Pycock and leading
Australian vets work together to refine techniques
for the greatest success. Hence Allerthorpe
Farm Stud is becoming one of the most successful
and expert Embryo Transfer centres in Europe, working
on a world stage with current success rates are on a par with
centres in Australia, Europe and South America.

What is Embryo Transfer?
An embryo from one mare, fertilized usually by Artificial Insemination is
placed into another mare whose ovulation cycles have been
synchronised. The recipient mare then carries the foal as a
surrogate mother. The foal’s genetics are derived from the
donor mare and the stallions and not the recipient which
merely takes the foal through to weaning.
